7 reasons why jumping is the perfect workout
01/11/2021 by Julian Fuchs
Are you looking for a workout that challenges your body but is still easy to integrate into your daily routine and will boost your fitness level significantly? Then jumping rope is probably just what you need. Today we'll give you 7 good reasons why a jump rope workout is worthwhile.
1. You don't need any prior knowledge to jump rope.
Jump rope is so popular partly because you don't need any prior experience. Of course, as you get more practiced, you can learn different techniques to make your training more varied. For example, the easy jump, which is simply jumping in place, can become a step jump, where you alternate between moving your feet forward and backward with each jump. To begin with, however, it's enough to focus on the following:
- Wear sturdy footwear, ideally with a high shaft, so you don't twist your ankle.
- Warm up your wrists and ankles before training by rotating them.
- Jump on a surface that has a springy feel, such as grass or carpet.
2. The fitness jump rope is suitable for (almost) everyone.
Because skipping rope is just as effective for burning fat as endurance training, it appeals to many people. Do you want to improve your fitness, lose weight, or build muscle? All of this is possible with rope skipping. There are very few limitations. If you suffer from wear and tear or persistent inflammation in your musculoskeletal system, we advise you to consult your doctor beforehand to determine if rope skipping is the right form of exercise for you.
Good to know!
Regular movement is important to nourish the articular cartilage. After all, it is not directly connected to the blood vessel system. Instead, it absorbs nutrients like a sponge with every movement.
3. Jumping rope is varied
When you train with a jump rope, you have the opportunity to combine many different step sequences. Ultimately, you create your own workout that you can do whenever you like. You'll be surprised how many different exercises you can do within a limited space – you definitely won't get bored when jumping rope.
4. Your adult jump rope is effective
Are you tired of walking long distances and still only burning the calories of a small chocolate bar? The good news: skipping rope is significantly more effective than other sports. This is evident, for example, when comparing skipping rope to jogging. Jogging burns about 350 calories in 30 minutes, while a cardio jump rope burns 500 calories. But your jump rope can do more than just help you shed pounds; it can also improve your fitness and build muscle. Because jumping rope engages many muscle groups, the workout is particularly effective.
5. You can train anywhere you like.
Let's be honest: The biggest problem with training programs is that they're difficult to integrate into a hectic daily routine. Perhaps you, too, are short on time and therefore can't make it to the gym regularly. With a jump rope, you can theoretically train anywhere, as long as you have enough space in front of, behind, and above you. In the garden, in the living room, or in the woods – the possibilities are endless. Traveling for business? No problem, the jump rope packs down small in your suitcase and can accompany you. If you're particularly short on time on some days, just 10 minutes can be enough to burn more than 160 calories and get your muscles working. From now on, there are no more excuses for skipping workouts.
6. When you jump rope, you train your body and mind.
If you jump rope regularly, you'll train your entire body. After just a few weeks of training, you'll have more stamina and your muscles will appear more defined. But it's not just your appearance that benefits. Because rope skipping tests your concentration and reflexes, it's also a cognitive challenge. At the same time, the training can improve your physical and mental well-being. After all, studies repeatedly show that exercise reduces stress and minimizes cardiovascular risk factors.
7. You will be more successful if you skip rope.
What might initially sound like a clumsy advertising claim actually has a basis in reality. Training with a HIIT jump rope directly improves your jumping power and speed. In the long run, this benefits not only jump rope exercises but also other disciplines. Are you interested in martial arts or acrobatic training? You might be more successful in both if you train with motivation using a jump rope. Furthermore, the enjoyment of movement and the reduction of stress hormones like cortisol promote well-being and performance for many people.
